We Have Our Champions!🏆

The RISE 3x3 City League Finals brought the community together and showcased the very best of 3x3 basketball in London! Check out the mini-recap below.

London Enforcers 3x3 won the Finals 21-15 and became Season II champions!
London Enforcers 3x3 won the Finals 21-15 and became Season II champions!

Approximately 150 spectators crowded around the half-court 3x3 space, to watch the last game of the RISE 3x3 City League Finals. It was an amazing evening, full of hard-fought battles on the court, music, laughter and giveaways.

Now, it was the last game of the Finals and the energy was palpable.

The MC took to the mic "we want Iso, we want Iso" (Iso = isolation, a player taking another player on 1v1). It was about to be the last bucket of the whole evening.

He took the ball, sized-up his defender, went between the legs twice, hesitated and then took him down the lane to the hoop. He scored, the team had won the whole League and the crowd went crazy!

---

A total of eight teams had battled on a Thursday evening, having won their spot in the Finals by playing in one of four Stops during the past two months.

Teams either won their Stop to automatically qualify for the Finals or they had earned RISE 3x3 City League Points (awarded to teams for games won, appearances in Semi-Finals etc) to get into the Finals at CitySport, near Barbican Station in central London.

With each squad made-up of high-level athletes who know 3x3 and play it at a very competitive level, it was always going to be one of the best, busiest and exciting 3x3 events in London to date.

Damarni, the eventual MVP, with the final shot to win it all!

The Top 8 teams competing were: Sunrise II Riches, Young OGs, Dunks Count As 1, London Enforcers 3x3, OSG Hoops, BXB and Crest. All of which were coming to fight for their right to be crowned City League champions.

In a tense match-up, Sunrise II Riches, a team that had played the whole League (also known as a Full League Team) earned the first seed ranking, and made their way to the final game of the Finals to play London Enforcers 3x3 , a seasoned group of players who had made the Finals last year but narrowly missed out on the trophy.

Enforcers had won Stop 3 as a Challenge Team (a team that can enter a single Stop) and were seeking revenge.

Despite Sunrise II Riches having a great core of shooters who run smart plays, London Enforcers were too good - shooting 2s, taking the opposition on 1v1, playing tough defense. The game went on to be a 21-15 win for London Enforcers (Jonathan Lashley, Demarni Velinor, Elinjah Maynard, Joshua Mendes), who celebrated along with the crowd.

It was a first for many - including new brand partners AND1 Basketball, who not only were headline partner but provided players and staff with hoodies and shorts, as well as free trainers to the MVP, Valinor.

Pro:Direct Hoops created stylish hoodies for all staff, provided teams with co-branded goody-bags and gave the winning team their own pair of brand new trainers! Use code 10RISE3x3 on their website for a discount on products!

A big thanks also goes Bouncewear, the specialist basketball retailer, who had provided vouchers for the winners of every Stop and then doubled the prize offering to the winning team!

Of course, no event happens without the fantastic staff and officials, who make up the ultimate team of the Finals. Expect to see them back this year, running more RISE 3x3 events.

It was an amazing day with worthy winners crowned RISE 3x3 City League champions! Stay tuned for more RISE 3x3 events soon.
